An acrylic textured landscape painting, the concept behind this piece came after my aunt asked for a large landscape painting that she could display at work. I agreed and hung up but it took a few minutes for me to remember that she worked at a school for the blind. Thus began the challenge of creating dimensional landscape artwork that people with visual challenges could also enjoy. The sky is a rubberized texture, the wave and tree trunk are tissue paper and gesso, the tree leaves are paper mache pulp and the cliff is chipped expanding foam. The “canvas” is a 36″ x 84″ hollow core door turned sideways for stability while people touch the canvas.
